Jeffrey L. Lord, MD, FACS

Bariatric Surgeon
The medical director of the Surgical Weight Loss Center is Dr. Jeffrey Lord. He has advanced fellowship training and is a nationally recognized expert in the field of minimally invasive bariatric surgery. Since beginning  bariatric surgery  in 1996, Dr. Lord has completed more than 3,500 bariatric surgeries and has cared for more than 5,000 bariatric patients.

David Martin, MD

Weight Management Physician

David Martin, MD, is an internal medicine physician who also specializes in weight management and nutrition. As a board-certified bariatrician, Dr. Martin treats overweight and obese patients with diet, nutrition, exercise, behavioral therapy and/or appropriate medications.

Mark Houston, PA

Physician Assistant
Mark earned his undergraduate degree from University of Southern Mississippi and his Masters degree from University South Alabama.  Has been assisting Dr. Lord in the surgical and clinic areas since 2005.  Mark serves as a preceptor at University of South Alabama for the Physician Assistant program.


Robert Ginn, MS, RD, LDN

Registered Dietitian
Robert GinnBob is Sacred Heart Surgical Weight Loss Center’s registered dietitian. He teaches the nutrition and behavior modification classes and provides individualized consultation with each potential bariatric patient to assist with healthy eating strategies for long-term success.

Bob has Bachelor of Science degrees from University of Arizona in both Agricultural Sciences and Human Nutrition & Dietetics. After completing a dietetic internship, Bob earned a Masters of Science degree in Holistic Nutrition from Clayton College in Birmingham.

Bob brings years of experience from his career as a registered dietitian in various healthcare facilities. He has consulted with patients of all ages with diverse diagnoses and nutritional concerns.

Chad Hagans, PhD

Bariatric Psychologist
Dr. Hagans meets individually with all our potential patients to evaluate their emotional and mental capacity to understand the physical and lifestyle changes that accompany weight-loss surgery. Dr. Hagans received his Ph.D. in psychology at the University of Florida, and has been in private practice for 15 years.
