The medical director of the Surgical Weight Loss Center is Dr. Jeffrey Lord. He has advanced fellowship training and is a nationally recognized expert in the field of minimally invasive bariatric surgery. Since beginning bariatric surgery in 1996, Dr. Lord has completed more than 3,500 bariatric surgeries and has cared for more than 5,000 bariatric patients.

Weight Management Physician
David Martin, MD, is an internal medicine physician who also specializes in weight management and nutrition. As a board-certified bariatrician, Dr. Martin treats overweight and obese patients with diet, nutrition, exercise, behavioral therapy and/or appropriate medications.

Mark earned his undergraduate degree from University of Southern Mississippi and his Masters degree from University South Alabama. Has been assisting Dr. Lord in the surgical and clinic areas since 2005. Mark serves as a preceptor at University of South Alabama for the Physician Assistant program.
Bariatric Program Manager
Jan is the Bariatric Program Manager at the Sacred Heart Surgical Weight Loss Center. Jan developed an interest in bariatric surgery after undergoing the Roux-en-y gastric bypass in 1998.
Jan's nursing career includes the areas of Cardiovascular/ Neurosurgery, as well as numerous years addressing women's health issues while working in the Family Birth Center at Maryview Medical Center in Portsmouth and the Women's Center at Obici Memorial Hospital in Suffolk.
Prior to joining Sacred Heart Surgical Weight Loss Center in Pensacola, she served as the Bariatric Program Coordinator/Case Manager at Portsmouth Naval Medical Center.
Manager, Administrative Services
As Manager of Administrative Services, April overseas non-clinical operations of the practice and works with insurance carriers to ensure maintenance of our "Center of Excellence" status . April and her team of bariatric financial specialists closely monitor insurance carrier trends and work diligently with patients to obtain the necessary preapproval for weight loss surgery .
April is a Pensacola native and studied business at Pensacola Junior College. She began her Sacred Heart career in 1998 in the Patient Accounts department. April joined the Sacred Heart's Surgical Weight Loss Center's staff in January 2006, just months after the practice opened.
She enjoys the challenge of working with various insurance carriers and seeing the amazing transformations of our patients.
Bob is Sacred Heart Surgical Weight Loss Center’s registered dietitian. He teaches the nutrition and behavior modification classes and provides individualized consultation with each potential bariatric patient to assist with healthy eating strategies for long-term success.
Bob has Bachelor of Science degrees from University of Arizona in both Agricultural Sciences and Human Nutrition & Dietetics. After completing a dietetic internship, Bob earned a Masters of Science degree in Holistic Nutrition from Clayton College in Birmingham.
Bob brings years of experience from his career as a registered dietitian in various healthcare facilities. He has consulted with patients of all ages with diverse diagnoses and nutritional concerns.
Dr. Hagans meets individually with all our potential patients to evaluate their emotional and mental capacity to understand the physical and lifestyle changes that accompany weight-loss surgery. Dr. Hagans received his Ph.D. in psychology at the University of Florida, and has been in private practice for 15 years.
